Who is Nate Diaz?
Nathan Donald ‘Nate’ Diaz is an American professional mixed martial artist born on April 16, 1985, in Stockton, California. An athlete of Mexican descent who attended Tokay High School, Diaz answered his call to martial arts at the age of 11 and began training in the martial arts with his older brother Nick, who is a former WEC World Weight Champion and Strikeforce World Weight Champion.
Nate Diaz does not like to attribute his skills and toughness to his upbringing because it is a cliché, but he admits that the fact that he comes from a rough neighborhood made him what he is today. Put simply, he has struggled all his life.
Since his professional MMA debut on October 21, 2004, at WEC 12, where he defeated Alex Gracia with a triangular strangle, he has won victories against some of the biggest names in professional martial arts, including Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor, and Gray Maynard.
Even though he is now a UFC fighter, Nate Diaz started and competed mainly for the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). His journey to the Ultimate Fighting Championship began with The Ultimate Fighter 5, which was designed exclusively for lightweights. In The Ultimate Fighter 5, Diaz defeated every single opponent and emerged as the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 5.
He clearly showed that he is not a weakling, especially after his fights with Alvin Robinson and Junior Assuncao, which he won by submission. He became hungrier and was rewarded with more prominent fights.
Nate Diaz’s first defeat in the UFC came in UFC 94 through a split decision by Clay Guida. His second defeat followed immediately after that by the other Ultimate Fighter winner Joe Stevenson.
He made his welterweight debut on March 27, 2010, at UFC 111, with Nate Diaz winning the fight in the first round. In his next welterweight fight, he fought former professional boxer Marcus Davis on August 28, 2010, and won the final round and the fight brought him the honor of Fight of the Night.
After several years of victorious fights with an increasing tendency in the UFC, Nate Diaz competed against Conor McGregor in the UFC 196 on March 5, 2016. He won the fight by submission in the second round, making it his ninth submission win in the UFC, the second most frequent of all time behind Royce Gracie. The fighter was awarded the night bonus.
A rematch with Conor McGregor was scheduled; unfortunately, he lost the rematch by majority decision.
Nate Diaz has a long-term relationship with Misty Brown. On June 20, 2018, it was announced that his girlfriend gave birth to her daughter. The couple, who have been together since 2012, are still happy after many years together.
His brother, Nick Diaz, was one of the best welterweight fighters during his time in the UFC. Since Nate was 11 years old, both brothers have been training together and now run a Brazilian Jui-Jitsu school in Lodi, California. The fighting style of Nate Diaz is very similar to that of his brother Nick. Nate prefers to use his long arms, good cardiovascular system, and strong boxing to beat his opponents.

As one of the most successful names in the martial arts world, Nate Diaz has managed to build a solid brand from his talent and success. His wealth comes from fighting salaries and a considerable amount from sponsorship contracts. He is currently worth 5 million dollars.
