Who Is Kenny Omega of WWE?
Canadians may not be known for their violent streak, but they are known for their culture of trying to please others, and after a brief stint as a field hockey goalkeeper, Kenny Omega decided to express this culture through professional wrestling.
For Kenny, it was not a fleeting interest, and within a short time, he was training under the Top Rope Championship Wrestling promoter, Bobby Jay. Kenny tried to combine his passion and desire to become a professional wrestler with training, but it proved impossible and was therefore abandoned. At the age of 16, he took the name Kenny Omega.
The discontinuation of his studies gave Kenny the chance to take full advantage of the various opportunities available to him as an aspiring professional wrestler. He joined the Premier Championship Wrestling in 2001. He became an admired fighter on the Canadian wrestling scene, and his growing reputation earned him a development exam with the largest promotion company in wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He left Premier Championship Wrestling in 2005.
His career with World Wrestling Entertainment began and ended with a year-long detour to Deep South Wrestling. His one-year development contract did not turn into a professional contract with the company and he returned to Premier Championship Wrestling.
Despite the lack of a contract with the WWE, Kenny Smith returned to the PCW with a more solid knowledge of wrestling. Since returning to PCW in 2006, Kenny has won one of the top Premier Championship tournaments, the PCW Premier Cup, twice. He has also won the PCW Heavyweight Championship four times.
During his career, Kenny Omega has fought for several wrestling companies. He fought under the Pro Wrestling Syndicate, Jersey All Pro Wrestling, won the JAPW Heavyweight Championship, and then successfully defended it on several occasions. He has also fought in the Ring of Honor.
Perhaps Kenny Omega’s most interesting career move to date has been his move up to the Japanese wrestling team, the Dramatic Dream Team. Kenny, who has always been interested in the Japanese wrestling scene due to the extent of his creative freedom. He spent an interesting time in Japan, where he won several championships and fought against a nine-year-old girl.
Later he left DDT to join New Japan Pro Wrestling. At NJPW he formed a tag team with Kota Ibushi. Later he joined a team of foreign wrestlers in the NJPW called Bullet Club. After 8 years in Japan, Kenny Omega left Japan. However, his farewell from the Japanese wrestling scene was short and he returned to NJPW barely a month after leaving.
Despite rumors of a move to WWE, he continues to fight for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan, and after spending almost a decade in the country, Kenny Omega (Tyson Smith) is now fluent in Japan and proudly represents Japanese culture. In addition to wrestling, he also enjoys playing video games and hosts a YouTube channel where he regularly streams himself playing video games.
