Davis was taught at Randolph-Clay High School in Cuthbert, Georgia, where he played basketball, baseball, soccer, and athletics. In soccer, he was versatile and productive in every position he was played in, whether as a wide receiver, running back, defensive back, quarterback, defensive end, punter, kicker, or kick returner. The boy finished his high school football career with 1,032 chased yards, earning him an honorable mention from the Georgia Sports Writers Association (GSWA) and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the AA All-State class.

In 2002, Thomas Davis went to the University of Georgia on a scholarship to study consumer economics and play football for the Georgia Bulldogs football team. He showed just how good he was in his second season, for which he was awarded the All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) second team, and in 2004 he was selected for the All-SEC first team and All-American first team. Davis had a total of 272 tackles, 18 for a 10.5 bag defeat. 3 Interceptions and 6 Forced Fumbles with 9 Fumble Recoveries.

Professional Career

The Carolina Panthers voted Thomas Davis 14th overall in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. During his rookie year, he was transformed from a safe to a linebacker, which he has remained ever since, since forming a solid linebacker partnership with his teammate Luke Kuechly. Thomas continued to improve every season but unfortunately suffered a torn ACL injury on September 18, 2011, for the third time in three years. Many speculated that it would be the end for him since no athlete was able to return to active sports after a third ACL injury.

However, due to his resilience, he returned to the league in 2012 and almost instantly resumed his impressive form from where he left off. In 2015, he received a two-year contract extension that saw him play in the team until the 2017 season. This was followed by a one-year contract extension, which saw him play in the NFL for the last time after announcing his retirement in the 2018 season.

In total, Thomas Davis has played 164 games in his NFL career from 2005 to 2017, during which he stayed with the Carolina Panthers, of which he started 146, a total of 1,015 tackles, 28.0 sacks, 46 defended passes, 13 interceptions, 18 forced fumbles and 9 fumble recoveries.

The linebacker and evangelical Christian of the Carolina Panthers are married to Kelly Davis, with whom he has four lovely children. Kelly and her husband have many things in common; they were both raised by a single parent and had one child separate from each of their previous relationships before they came together as man and wife.

From what we know about Kelly, she was born in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter of Terry Stokes Wolfe. She studied at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, where she graduated with a major in biology. During her studies, she had to wait tables at Applebee’s to earn money and provide for her child named Sky. During this work, Javon Haye, a player with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who is a friend of Davis, introduced the two of them to each other. The two quickly took a liking to him and soon started dating.

Without waiting long, Kelly was with a child; the first together and the second individually. After her delivery, when Thomas returned from a mandatory training camp, he proposed marriage to her, which she accepted. The two parents tied the wedding cord on March 22, 2008, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church during their reception at Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, NC. and are now the parents of their four children, two boys, and two girls.

Kelly Davis revealed that it took a lot of strength to beat the odds and stay true to each other in her marriage, which is now more than a decade old. Thomas attributed the success of their union to two things: having a happy wife and of course their prayers together. Both give priority to the education of their children and make sure that they work hard to earn what they have. They have a Christian home where their children are instilled with the right family values.
