King Joe, as he is affectionately known, was born on March 17, 1976, as Nuufolau Joel Seanoa in Orange County, California. During his formative years, the aspiring wrestler spent much time in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. A Polynesian dance company called Tiare Productions, founded by his parents, gave him the platform to perform on stage. He had his first stage appearance at the opening of the 1984 Summer Olympics when he was just five years old.

During his high school years, he was a football player in all leagues and was also a junior state champion in judo. At one point in the life of the rising star, he worked in a mortgage brokerage firm. Samoa Joe received his high school education at Ocean View High School.

Today, his maneuvers in wrestling leave the WWE universe almost in awe.
