Nabil Fekir Biography
Nabil Fekir was born on 18 July 1993 in Lyon, France, the son of Algerian parents. He grew up on the streets of Lyon and played football before joining a youth team at the age of 6.
Fekir began his journey to the top of his game in 2000 when he joined AC Villeurbanne. He played for the team for a year before moving to FC Vaulx-en-Velin, where he played for two years and then switched again. In 2003 he moved to SC Caluire and later, in 2005, to a dream move to Lyon, but it turned out to be a nightmare as he was dismissed from the team because he was not strong enough. He then moved back to FC Vaulx-en-Velin, where he played for three years before moving to Saint-Priest in 2010.
With Saint-Priest, a young Fekir began attracting scouts from all over the country, even from Lyon, the club that had previously sacked him. In 2011, Nabil Fekir put his pettiness aside and returned to the team he had always wanted to play for. From 2011 to 2013, he had a strong presence in the Lyon B team before making his first-team debut in August 2013. He subsequently appeared 17 times in all competitions for the team and scored his first goal in a Ligue 1 match against Bastia on 27 April 2014.
In the 2014-15 season, Nabil Fekir became something of a pillar of the team, receiving praise from all sides of the country. In the same year, a dispute began between France and Algeria over who the attacker should play for. Although he initially chose Algeria, Fekir decided to represent Les Bleus. In his first full season, he scored 13 goals and 9 assists and was also named Team of the Year in Ligue 1.
In 2017, after Maxime Gonalons was sold to AS Roma, Nabil Fekir was named captain of Lyon, a testament to the influence he has had on his teammates and the club in general. Since the beginning of 2018, it has been speculated that Fekir is seeking to leave the club. It has been reported that the English Premier League club Liverpool paid 60 million euros for his services, which Lyon initially accepted. However, the negotiations eventually failed, and at the time of writing this report, he is still a Lyon player.
He has made a total of 153 appearances and scored 57 goals in the process.
