Christian began his professional career as a football player while still in high school. He helped his high school team to an 11-1 record and a direct trip to the state quarterfinals while playing for them. At Neumann Goretti, he was coached by Albie Crosby. He was named one of the best defensive linemen in the country. Following his first season with the Crimson Tide in 2018, he was redshirted in his first year. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, he contributed depth to the Alabama front seven, recording 26 tackles, 6 for loss, 2 sacks, 5 quarterback pressures, and 2 pass breakups.
After breaking all the records, the UA coaches named him defensive player of the week for his performances against Western Carolina and Auburn. He made an immediate impact against the Wolverines at Michigan, recording two tackles, a pass deflection, and a quarterback hurry.
