Ashley Young is a defender who plays football for both the English Premier League team Manchester United and the English senior national team. Sometimes he plays as a wingback, but he also plays as a fullback. He achieved fame when he joined United in 2011 and since then there is no stopping him.
Ashley Young Bio
The star defender was born as Ashley Simon Young on 9 July 1985 in the non-metropolis of Stevenage in Hertfordshire, England. There he grew up with his three brothers, one older and two younger brothers.
He was born the son of a Jamaican father, Luther Young, who is also a football lover, and a Jamaican mother, Sharon Young.
As he grew up, Ashley loved to play football as much as his two younger brothers, who are also footballers. One of his brothers, Lewis Young, has played for clubs like Watford, Burton Albion, Northampton Town and, in mid-2018, Crawley Town. His other brother, Kylie Young, who happens to be the youngest of the brothers, is said to have played for Arsenal in 2009.
The Manchester United star went to the John Henry Newman School for his education. There he continued to play the game he had always loved. What is very surprising is that it was here that he met Lewis Hamilton, who was playing football with the man from the Red Devils. A Formula 1 driver who had also considered playing professional football said that when he was taller than Ashley Young, the Englishman was the better man when it came to skills.
Club Football Career
Young began his youth career at Watford in 1995, and by 2003 he had already secured his promotion to the senior side of the club he played for until 2007, scoring 19 goals in his 98 internationals for the club as a defender.
After moving from Hertfordshire, he joined Aston Villa before moving to Manchester United in 2011. By the end of the 2017/2018 season, he had already scored 13 goals and played 150 games.
By the end of the season, he could also look back on titles he had already won, including the Premier League, which he won in 2013, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the FA Community Shield, and the UEFA Europa League. He was also named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2009 and PFA Team of the Year in 2008 and 2009.
Wife and Son
Ashely Young only grew up with one woman in his life, Nicky Pike. They’ve been together since they were kids after they met in school.
As they have spent most of their lives together, it was quite shocking that the English fullback decided to cancel his wedding with Nicky Pike in 2011 just two days before the event that was to take place at the Grove Hotel in Watford.
Although Ashley Young was seen with other women in Las Vegas shortly afterward, he was to marry Nicky Pike at a private event in Buckinghamshire in 2015.
They have two children together, a son Tyler Young, who also began his football career at Arsenal Academy, and a daughter, Ellearna.
Ashley Young National Football Career
Of course, it is every player’s dream – apart from having a good club – to fly his national flag in important competitions. Ashley Young’s first opportunity to fly the English national colors came in 2006 at the under-21 age level.
After playing 10 games for the younger team, he was promoted to the senior side in 2017. By the time the aggressive defender received an invitation to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, which was to be his first appearance at a World Cup, he had already played 33 games for the team, having seen the back of the net 7 times.
At the tournament in Russia, Young helped the Three Lions to fourth place, suffering two shocking defeats to Croatia and Belgium in the semi-final and third-place match. He participated in the World Championship 5 times and offered his support.
Height, Weight, and Body Measurements
Young is one of the most intelligent and skilled defenders there is. He may not be the biggest player on the field, but he still has the size and build to protect his goalpost. Rather slim and athletically built, he has a height of 1.75 m (5ft 9) and bodyweight of 64.8 kg (143 lbs).
That noted, his general body measurements are still unknown.
