Annie began her swimming career in high school when she was a member of the school team. She continued her training and went on to swim at the college level at Ohio State University. In her freshman year, she competed in the Ohio state championship and finished eighth. Lazor switched to Auburn University after her freshman season, when she got NCAA “b” cuts in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events. She won two All-American honors in the NCAA championship in her junior year of 2014, and she finished 13th as a senior in 2015-16. She also competed in the Pan American Games that year, finishing third and earning her first international medal. Annie also competed in the 2016 Olympic trials but did not make the team. She subsequently began working as an administrator for Coach Dave Durden.
She made a comeback in 2018 and raced in the USA nationals, where her performance gained her qualification to the 2019 Pan American Games, where she won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, as well as leading the team to gold in the 4 x100m medley. Meanwhile, in 2018, she competed as a member of the US national team at the Short Course World Championships in Hangzhou, where she won a 200m breaststroke event. She recently competed in the Tokyo Olympic 2020 trials in 2021, winning the 200m breaststroke event finals and qualifying for the US national team in Tokyo. She will compete for the United States in the women’s 200m breaststroke event, marking her maiden Olympic appearance. On July 28th, she will compete in her first Olympic event, a 200m breaststroke.
