Amal Clooney’s Bio (Age)

Born as Amal Alamuddin on February 3, 1978, in Beirut, Lebanon, Amal, and her family had to flee Lebanon when she turned two years old as a result of the Lebanese civil war. The middle-class family immigrated to Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire in southeast England. Amal’s father, Ramzi Alam Uddin, holds an MBA from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon, and is the owner of the travel agency COMET. Years after the end of the war, Amal’s father returned to his country Lebanon in the early 1990s.

Amal’s mother, Bariaa Miknass, works as a foreign editor for the pan-Arab newspaper al-Hayat. In addition, Amal’s mother is the founder of International Communication Experts, a PR company specializing in event advertising, celebrity guest bookings, and commercial photography. Amal has a sister named Tala. She also has two half-brothers named Samer and Ziad from her father’s first marriage.

In Buckinghamshire, Amal attended Dr. Challoner’s High School for girls, which is located in Little Chalfont. For her college degree, Amal attended St. Hugh’s College in Oxford. As an outstanding student, Amal received an exhibition (a special kind of scholarship). She also received the Shrigley Award. In 2000, Amal completed her law studies with a Bachelor of Arts, which is equivalent to a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree in Oxford.

In 2001, Amal then completed a Master of Law (LLM) at the New York University School of Law. Again, she distinguished herself by receiving the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for excellence in entertainment law. After graduating in 2002, Amal received a license to practice law in the USA.

During her time at the NY School of Law, Amal worked for a semester in the office of Sonia Sotomayor, who was then a judge at the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit of the United States.

After LLM, Amal Clooney worked for the New York-based international law firm Sullivan & Cromwell. She was a member of the Criminal Defense and Investigations Group. During her three years with the firm, Amal represented the energy commodities and services company Enron, the holding company Arthur Andersen and others.

Until 2004, Amal did an internship at the International Court of Justice, after which she worked in The Hague, Netherlands, where she was a clerk in the Office of the Prosecutor at the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

Six years later, in 2010, Amal returned to the United Kingdom and obtained a license to practice in both the United Kingdom and Wales. She began practicing in London as a member of Doughty Street Chambers. Her clients included WikiLeaks founder Yulian Assange, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and Canadian Al Jazeera journalist Mohamed Fahmy.

Religion

The religion of Amal Clooney is not entirely clear to the public. Many have called her Druze, which is her father’s religion. The Druze religion is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion that follows the five pillars of Islam. Some other Muslim groups consider them to be infidels who have deviated from the true Muslim faith. On the other hand, her mother comes from a family of Sunni Muslims. Yet Amal has never spoken aloud about her faith.

Some three years after their marriage, which was highly publicized, CBS’ The Talk revealed that Amal was pregnant with twins. Actor Matt Damon, a close friend of the couple, confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly. Amal gave birth to twin babies (one boy and one girl) on June 6, 2017. The boy is named Alexander and the girl Ella. Per PEOPLE, Amal and George enlisted the services of famous childcare expert Connie Simpson to help them care for their children.
