At the Summer Olympics in 2000, Aaron finished second in the 200-meter backstroke and won a silver medal. Aaron qualified for the 2001 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter backstroke, and 4100-meter medley relay at the 2001 National Championships.

In addition, at the 2001 World Aquatics Championships, Aaron earned a gold medal in the 200-meter backstroke. Aaron also won three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Moscow in 2002.
